서울대학교에서 경영학 학사(1992년), 석사(1994년), 박사(2000년) 학위를 취득하였다. 정보통신 분야 정부 출연 연구기관인 한국전자통신연구원(ETRI)과 정보통신정책연구원(KISDI)에서 정책 및 전략 연구를 7년 간 수행한 경력이 있다. 2014년에는 Florida State University에서 Visiting Scholar로 활동하였다. 주요 연구 분야는 서비스 마케팅, 하이테크 마케팅, 사회적 기업 등이며, 연구 성과는 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SPORTS MARKETING & SPONSORSHIP, INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ELECTRONIC COMMERCE, ACADEMY OF MARKETING STUDIES JOURNAL 등의 학술지에 게재되었다.

He received his BA (1992), MA (1994), and PhD (2000) degrees in Business Administration from Seoul National University. He has seven years of experience conducting policy and strategy research at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) and the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI). In 2014, he stayed at Florida State University as a Visiting Scholar. His main research areas include service marketing, high-tech marketing, and social enterprise, and his research results have been published in academic journals such as INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SPORTS MARKETING & SPONSORSHIP, INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ELECTRONIC COMMERCE, and ACADEMY OF MARKETING STUDIES JOURNAL.

이홍주 교수는 2006년 KAIST 경영대학원에서 박사학위를 받았다. 이후 2006년에는 MIT Center for Coordination Science에서 Postdoctoral fellow로 근무하였다. 2011년에는 MIT Center for Collective Intelligence에서 Visiting scholar로 활동하였으며, 2017년부터 2018년까지는 Brunel Business School, Brunel University London에서 International researcher로 지냈다.

이홍주 교수의 주요 연구 분야는 비즈니스 환경에서 지능적 기술의 활용과 소셜 미디어 및 헬스케어 분야에서의 콘텐츠 분석이다. 그의 연구 성과는 Government Information Quarterly, International Journal of Electronic Commerce, Decision Support Systems, Expert Systems with Applications, Expert Systems, Information Systems Frontiers, Journal of Electronic Commerce Research, Technological Forecasting and Social Change 등의 학술지에 다수 게재되었다.

Hong Joo Lee is a Professor of Business Administration, The Catholic University of Korea. He has a Ph.D. from the KAIST Business School (2006) and was with the MIT Center for Coordination Science as a postdoctoral fellow in 2006. He stayed at the MIT Center for Collective Intelligence as a visiting scholar in 2011 and Brunel Business School, Brunel University London as an international researcher in 2017– 2018. His research areas are utilizing intelligent techniques and harnessing collective intelligence in business settings and analyzing the effects of intelligent aids in e-business and healthcare. His papers have been published in Government Information Quarterly, International Journal of Electronic Commerce, Decision Support Systems, Expert Systems with Applications, Expert Systems, Information Systems Frontiers, Journal of Electronic Commerce Research, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and other journals.

KAIST 산업공학과(학사 94, 석사 96)와 경영대학(박사 07)에서 공부하였으며, 2009년 가톨릭대학교에 부임하여 현재 경영학과와 사회혁신융복합전공의 교수로 있다. 석사과정을 마친 후 LG생산기술원에서 제조업의 생산경영 분야를 연구하였고, 그 후 모교로 돌아와 공공 부문의 서비스경영에 관한 논문으로 박사학위를 받았다. 경영학으로 세상을 바꾸는 것에 관심이 많다. 경영학의 대상인 시장과 기업이 세상에서 가장 우수한 혁신 기계라고 믿는다. 그렇다고 모든 사회문제를 시장과 기업이 해결할 수 있다고 주장할 만큼 뻔뻔하지는 않다. 언제나 공공, 시장, 사회의 경계를 넘나드는 파괴와 혁신의 질주를 응원한다. 자신은 사회적 기업가로 살아갈 의사가 없으면서, 학생들이 소셜벤처 창업과 사회혁신 실험에 도전할 것을 독려한다. 주요 연구 분야는  사회적 기업가정신, 기업과 사회,  환경경영, 서비스경영 등이며 관련 논문 및 저서가 다수 있다. 최근까지 사회적 가치 측정에 관한 연구와 실천에 집중해 왔고,  진화 이론을 사회혁신 생태계에 적용하기 위한 연구에도 관심이 많다. 

Prof. Rha earned his BA ('94), MS ('96), and Ph.D. ( '07) from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Since joining the Department of Business Administration at The Catholic University of Korea in 2009, he has served as a dedicated professor.  Driven by a deep commitment to transforming the world through business administration, Prof. Rha views markets and enterprises as among the most innovative tools available. Nonetheless, he acknowledges that not all social challenges can be resolved solely through market and enterprise mechanisms. He advocates for distruptive innovation that transcends the traditional boundaries of state, market, and society. Although he does not aspire to become a social entrepreneur himself, Prof. Rha passionately encourages his students to take on the challenge of starting social ventures and engaging in social innovation. His research encompasses a wide array of topics at the intersection of business and society, including social entrepreneurship, impact investing, corporate social responsibility, and environmental management. He has authored numerous papers and books on these subjects. Over the past decade, his research has focused on valuating the social impact of business activities, and he has also shown a keen interest in applying evolutionary theory to the social innovation ecosystem.

미국 Weber State University에서 Computer Science와 Information System & Technology를 공부했으며, 캐나다 Schulich School of Business에서 MBA 학위(NPO Management)를 받았다. 2019년 가톨릭대학교에 부임해 현재 경영학과와 사회혁신융복합전공 교수로 있다. 섹터 내, 섹터 간 집합적 협력을 통한 사회문제 해결에 관심이 많으며 이와 관련된 다양한 산학연구 및 산학협동교육 프로젝트를 기획·운영하고 있다. 대학과 대학 교육을 사회혁신의 실험장으로 만들기 위한 도전을 계속해 나가고 있다.

모두가 평등하게 살아갈 수 있는 세상을 향한 지렛대로서 사회정책을 탐구해왔다. 2005년 서울대학교에서 '복지체제와 생산체제의 제도적 상보성'으로 사회복지박사학위를 취득하였다. 주요 연구분야는 불안정 노동, 기본소득, 플랫폼 자본주의와 복지국가 비교 영역이다. 노동시장의 변화로 사회보험 중심 전통적 복지국가의 제도적 정합성이 약화되고 있는 상황에서, 불안정 노동 문제를 해결하고, 공유부 배당 기본소득이 있는 정의로운 복지국가로 전통적 복지국가를 재구성하는 것에 관심을 가지고 연구하고 있다.  

I have pursued the study of social policy as a lever for realizing a more egalitarian society. In 2005, I was awarded a Ph.D. in Social Welfare from Seoul National University, with a dissertation entitled Institutional Complementarities between Welfare and Production Regimes. My primary fields of research encompass precarious work, universal basic income, and comparative analyses of welfare states within the context of platform capitalism. Against the backdrop of profound transformations in labor markets that have eroded the institutional coherence of the traditional social insurance–based welfare state, my scholarship is directed toward addressing the challenges posed by precarious work and exploring the realization of a welfare state anchored in distributive justice and sustained by a universal basic income drawn from common-wealth dividends.

미국 텍사스 주립대학교(University of Texas at Austin)에서 사회학 박사 학위를 취득한 후, 위스콘신 주립대-밀워키(University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) 사회학과를 거쳐 2016년부터 가톨릭대학교 사회학과에서 학생들을 가르치고 있다. 주된 연구와 교육 분야는 노동/산업사회학, 계층과 불평등, 의료사회학이다. 특히 서비스 노동자들의 불안정한 노동 환경과 산재 안전망의 사각지대 실태에 관심을 갖고 분석해 왔으며, 아파도 출근할 수밖에 없는 '유병 출근(프리젠티즘)' 현상을 통해, 노동 조건과 성별 격차가 취약 계층의 건강권에 미치는 영향력을 규명했다. 또한, 코로나19 시기의 정신건강 격차와 자산 불평등 속 젠더 구조를 추적하는 등 정치·사회적 불평등 이면의 역학 관계를 밝히는 데도 관심이 있다.
