On Thursday the 9th, the 2026 Fall Semester Opening Mass was held at the university's concert hall, drawing students and faculty members. Members of the university community gathered together to mark the start of the new semester and prayed for learning, teaching, and personal growth in their respective places. 

Rev. Choi Jun-gyu, President of the university, began his homily with the question, "Are you happy now?" Based on the "Beatitudes" in the Gospel of Luke, he emphasized that true happiness does not depend on how much one possesses, but on how one uses and shares what they have.

 Sharing an anecdote about looking through a window at students peering into the newly remodeled student union space ahead of the semester, President Choi noted, "I realized that what makes students happy is not something grandiose or extravagant, but the fact that someone cared for them." He added, "Happiness begins close to home and in small things." 

Following the Mass, a donation ceremony was held for Cho Byung-woo, CEO of Yoopung Inc., who has continuously contributed to the university. CEO Cho donated 500 million won to the university's development fund, and attendees watched a gratitude video to express appreciation for his ongoing support.

CEO Cho shared his belief that true happiness is found when cherishing connections with oneself, neighbors, and those around us, wishing that students live happy lives by nurturing these relationships. 

Following the Mass, several ceremonies and presentations took place.

Presentation of the Education Excellence Award, Research Excellence Award, and CUK Contribution Award, along with the introduction of newly appointed faculty members. 

Screening of a video featuring students' experiences in the overseas cultural exploration program, followed by awards for the undergraduate Caritas Volunteer Corps and the central club Hwarang. 

Updates on the activities of the 21st International Volunteer Corps and university ROTC training were shared with the community. 

The opening mass successfully marked an energetic start to the new semester while reflecting on the true meaning of happiness and sharing.
