CUK Holds 2026 Faculty Training Seminar

The Catholic University of Korea held the 2026 Faculty Training Seminar at The Link Seoul Tribute Portfolio Hotel under the motto 'Beyond Crisis, Redefining Greatness.'
A total of 111 people attended this seminar, including President Choi Jun-kyu, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, Executive Vice President for Research, key officials, as well as faculty and staff from the Songsim, Songui, and Songsin Campuses.
Facing a critical turning point where the university's reason for existence and the role of professors must be fundamentally redefined amid the rapidly changing higher education environment and the transition into an AI-based society, this seminar was organized to jointly seek an answer to the essential question, 'Why should universities still be chosen?'
On this day, President Choi Jun-kyu delivered a keynote speech under the theme of 'Beyond Crisis, Toward CUK's Unique Greatness.'

Following that, special lectures inviting experts from various fields in connection with the seminar theme continued:
- Professor Jeong Jae-seung of the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at KAIST shed light on the essence of education in the AI era under the theme of 'Rethinking Education in the Age of AI.'

- Professor Bae Sang-hoon of the Department of Education at Sungkyunkwan University presented the direction of innovation universities should take under the theme of 'Future Higher Education Environment and University Innovation: Prospects and Tasks.'

- Chair Professor Cho Byeok of Korea University lectured on the role and value of professors in the changing educational environment under the theme of 'Good Professors Disappear, Only Meaningful Professors Remain.'

- Lastly, Professor Emeritus Choe Jae-chun of Ewha Womans University shared the values and roles that the university community should aim for in the AI era under the theme of 'Knowledge and Life in the AI Era · Identity of the University Community.'
Through this faculty training seminar, The Catholic University of Korea had time to reflect together on the essence and future of universities amid the rapidly changing educational environment, and to broaden consensus on the new greatness and future competitiveness that CUK should pursue.
