CUK Signs MOU with Korea Information & Communication Qualification Association for Fostering Smart H

The Department of Space Design & Consumer Studies at The Catholic University of Korea signed an educational cooperation business agreement (MOU) with the Korea Information & Communication Qualification Association to cultivate smart home IoT experts.

This agreement was pursued to foster integrated talents who will lead the digital transformation era and to establish a practical-oriented cooperation system linking university curricula with qualification systems. Both organizations plan to focus on enhancing students' practical capabilities and employment competitiveness by jointly operating curricula and practical programs that reflect industry demand.



In accordance with the agreement, the two organizations will promote △Development of Project-Based Learning (PBL)-based curriculum and joint research △Enhancement of employment capabilities through linkage with qualification systems △Operation of customized job competency programs for current employees and students (such as Intelligent Home Manager, etc.) △Designation as a partner institution for the 'AI Integrated Space Design Professional Degree.'


In particular, the university will offer a new course, 'IoT Smart Home,' starting from the second semester of the 2026 academic year. Students will practice IoT-based space design, system construction and operation, and digital transformation technology that integrate smart home technology with space design, laying the foundation to acquire professional qualifications and practical capabilities required in the industrial field.


Kim Na-yeon, Head of the Department of Space Design & Consumer Studies, stated, "With this agreement as an opportunity, we will lead a new field of education and research where Information and Communications Technology (ICT), space design, and consumer studies converge," adding, "We will continuously expand industry-academic cooperation to cultivate future-oriented professional talents equipped with practical capabilities in AIoT-based space design and intelligent home management."
