On May 6 (Wed), the Incheon Immigration Office (Commissioner Jae-wan Park) visited our university and held a meeting with President Jun-gi Choi to support the recruitment and management of international students and the resettlement of outstanding talents.

This meeting was organized to seek strategic recruitment of excellent foreign talents and the strengthening of the domestic resettlement support system in a situation where the domestic labor shortage problem is intensifying due to low birth rates and an aging population. In-depth discussions were held on agendas such as: △Securing diversity of international students △Support for employment and resettlement after graduation △Cooperation measures for stay management.

Commissioner Jae-wan Park emphasized the importance of providing accurate visa information in advance so that graduates can demonstrate their capabilities in Korea. President Jun-gi Choi proposed the necessity of establishing an integrated support model where local governments, regional companies, and universities organically cooperate to lead from the recruitment of foreign talent to education, employment, and resettlement.

In addition, opinions on the fundamental values and direction of immigration and migration policies were shared during this meeting. Both sides formed a consensus that foreign talent policies should not remain solely from an economic perspective but should be designed from a comprehensive viewpoint that encompasses the promotion of cultural diversity and humanitarian values.

Jae-wan Park, Commissioner of the Incheon Immigration Office, stated, “Through this meeting, I was able to hear vivid voices from the university field,” and added, “We will continue to cooperate closely with universities, local governments, and companies to create an environment where outstanding foreign talents can come to Korea, settle down, and contribute.”
