The Catholic University of Korea was selected as an outstanding case study university for the 2025 ‘1,000 Won Breakfast’ program, marking its third consecutive year on the list since 2023. The award ceremony for outstanding case studies was held on Friday, December 12, at the National Institute of Agricultural Education.

The 2025 ‘1,000 Won Breakfast’ program provided students with breakfast for 1,000 won, funded jointly by The Catholic University of Korea, the Rural Development Administration, and the Gyeonggi Agricultural and Fisheries Promotion Agency.

This year, 14 universities were selected as exemplary institutions from 200 participating universities nationwide. Our university received high praise for establishing a sustainable operational foundation through:

△ Meal distribution cooperation with the student volunteer club 'Caritas Volunteer Corps' △ conducting its own fund-raising project △ donations of rice by honorary professors and related parties. This established a sustainable operational foundation.

Particularly, during the Special Week (October 27-30) marking the university's 170th anniversary, a free beverage event was held alongside the existing ‘1,000 Won Breakfast,’ garnering enthusiastic student response. 

Launched in 2021 serving 6,600 students, this initiative expanded to approximately 17,000 students by 2025 based on consistent student interest and stable operations. It is expected to serve over 19,000 students by 2026.
