Three graduate students from the Department of Performing Arts and Culture at The Catholic University of Korea received the Best Paper Award, Excellent Paper Award, and Encouragement Award at the 2025 Fall Conference of the Korean Association for Regional Culture.

The Korean Association for Regional Culture is a national academic organization composed of experts and scholars from various fields such as regional culture education, management, administration, and policy, working to promote the diversity and study of regional culture. The 2025 Fall Conference, held for two days from November 7, was co-hosted by The Catholic University of Korea and Yeoncheon County under the theme “Cultural Reinterpretation of the Region: Collaboration, Healing, and Peace for Coexistence.”

At this conference, graduate students Woo Soching, Soo Danri (advised by Prof. Young-Joo Kim), and Jang Gyeol (advised by Prof. Inseol Kim) from the Department of Performing Arts and Culture were honored in the poster presentation session with the Best Paper Award, Excellent Paper Award, and Encouragement Award.

Ph.D. student Woo Soching received the Best Paper Award for the study “An Analysis of Tenor Vocal Range Training Practices Based on the FACH SYSTEM.”
Graduate student Jang Gyeol received the Excellent Paper Award for “A Study on Virtual Intimate Relationships in Romance Simulation Games Based on Quasi-Social Relationship Theory: A Digital Ethnography of Love and Deepspace.”
Graduate student Soo Danri received the Encouragement Award for “A Study on the Mirror Image of Narcissistic Perception Appearing in Self-Portrait Works.”

Award recipient Woo Soching remarked, “It was a meaningful opportunity for international students to come together and engage in academic discussion beyond differences in language and culture.”

Prof. Young-Joo Kim of the Department of Performing Arts and Culture stated, “A region is more than an administrative space—it is a living stage where history, culture, and the collective memory and identity of the community intersect. I hope this conference offers students a valuable chance to reinterpret regional history through a cultural lens and explore collaboration and peace.”
