Catholic University Receives Medal and Expands International Cooperation at IFCU General Assembly on

Catholic University (President Jun-Kyu Choi) received the “Ex Corde Ecclesiae Medal” at the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU) General Assembly in recognition of its exemplary dedication to the mission of Catholic higher education on the occasion of its 170th anniversary.
The IFCU is a federation of more than 250 Catholic higher education institutions worldwide, promoting cooperation, research, and exchange in the field of higher education. The General Assembly is held every three years, bringing together leaders of Catholic universities to discuss education, research, and shared missions, and to elect the federation’s leadership.
This year’s General Assembly was held from July 28 to August 1 at UNIVA University in Guadalajara, Mexico, under the theme “Catholic Universities, Choreographers of Knowledge,” with more than 175 university officials from around the world in attendance. Rev. Fr. Francisco Ramirez Yanez, President of UNIVA University in Mexico, was elected as the next president, and the 2028 General Assembly will be held at the Catholic University of Portugal.
At this General Assembly, Catholic University applied as a candidate to host the next General Assembly, introduced the school, and discussed various cooperative measures with universities around the world, including joint research, international collaboration, and joint degree programs. As a result, it signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with La Salle Bajio University in Mexico and Seton Hall University in the United States, and plans to continue building on these agreements and achievements in international cooperation.
