The Catholic University of Korea successfully wrapped up the “2025 ASEAN Korean Language Teachers Invitational Workshop,” held July 1–5 over four nights and five days.

This workshop was organized to strengthen networks with ASEAN universities, introduce The Catholic University of Korea’s master’s and doctoral programs to local Korean language instructors, and lay the groundwork for recruiting outstanding students from the ASEAN region, where enthusiasm for learning Korean is high.

On the second day of the workshop, July 2, the International Association of Korean Language and Cultural Education hosted its annual symposium, fostering in-depth discussions.

Titled “Expanding and Integrating Korean Language and Cultural Education through Comparison and Contrast: Focusing on ASEAN and AI,” the symposium opened with welcoming remarks by Ku Min-ji, President of the International Association of Korean Language and Cultural Education, followed by congratulatory addresses from Im Hak-sun, Dean of Seongshim Graduate School, and Song Seong-guk, Director of International Exchange.

Expert lectures explored strategies for Korean language teaching through interlingual grammatical contrast, and breakout discussions among ASEAN Korean language teachers greatly enhanced participants’ instructional skills.

During the workshop, attendees also deepened their professional expertise in Korean language education while experiencing Korean culture through guided visits to major landmarks in Seoul.

This workshop is expected to further solidify cooperative ties with the ASEAN region and serve as an important stepping stone in elevating the global stature of Korean language education.
