The Catholic University of Korea Joins Hands with Bucheon City to Create a 'Global Humanities and Ar

The Catholic University of Korea (President Choi Jun-kyu) has been selected for the '2025 Humanities City Support Project' organized by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.
With this selection, Catholic University will receive approximately 420 million KRW over the next four years, along with matching funds from Bucheon City and the Bucheon Cultural Foundation. In cooperation with Bucheon City (Mayor Cho Yong-ik), Catholic University plans to actively promote the creation of an inclusive humanities and arts city that encompasses humanities and arts, AI technology, and multiculturalism, under the theme of 'Beyond Bucheon: 2029 B Project.'
The project, with the slogan 'Beyond Space, Beyond Creation, Beyond Interpretation,' aims to:
Create a sustainable humanities and arts city.
Form an inclusive humanities and arts city.
Realize a global humanities and arts city that connects Bucheon and the world. To achieve this, six humanities brand projects and 24 humanities city programs will be operated. Key programs include the Bucheon Storytelling Academy, Media & Art Festival, Bangbang-gokgok-Bucheon, B-Road, and B.Creative AI Camp.
The Catholic University of Korera will maximize its humanities and arts education outcomes through its convergence education capabilities, centered on the Department of Arts and Media Convergence and the Institute for Human Studies. Bucheon City, in collaboration with the UNESCO City of Literature team, Bucheon City Performing Arts Troupe, Bucheon Cultural Foundation, Art Bunker B39, Bucheon City Museum, and local social welfare organizations, plans to establish a sustainable humanities and arts city model.
Lee Dong-eun, Director of The Catholic University of Korea's Humanities City Project Group, stated, "This project aims to provide open creative opportunities and educational content so that everyone can grow as an artist, and to build a global creative ecosystem through exchanges with international artists." He added, "We plan to actively operate customized programs that can embrace diverse members, including the underprivileged and vulnerable, as well as multicultural families, foreigners, and international students."
