[Guide to Abandoning Acquired Grades for the 2026-1 Semester]

1. Application Period

  • July 16, 2026 (Thu) 09:00 ~ 17:00

  • ※ Additional applications are NOT allowed under any circumstances, so please strictly adhere to the designated time.

2. Eligibility (Enrolled students only; students on Leave of Absence, Completers, or Postponed Completers are NOT eligible)

  1. Enrolled students who have completed 7 or more semesters (with 119 or more credits; 140 or more credits for the Department of Pharmacy) (Those whose 7th-semester grades have been finalized on Trinity)

  2. Prospective early graduates and students in the integrated Bachelor's-Master's program who meet the above criteria.

  • ※ The above conditions apply identically to all students, regardless of their student ID number (entering year).

  • ※ Students scheduled to graduate in August 2026 who plan to apply for a Postponement of Course Completion cannot apply after their academic status changes to 'Postponed Completer'. Therefore, the application must be completed within this current designated period.

3. Abandonable Credits: Up to a cumulative total of 9 credits

  • Can be applied for separately over multiple semesters; once approved, the abandoned grades cannot be restored.

  • ※ The cumulative number of abandonable credits is calculated starting from the abandonment of acquired grades in the 1st semester of the 2014 academic year.

4. Scope of Eligible Courses for Grade Abandonment

Category

Detailed Scope

Students up to the Class of 2020

(~ Entering class of 2020)

ㆍCourses with an acquired grade of C+ or lower (Abandoning courses with an 'F' grade is also counted toward the total number of abandonable credits).

ㆍCourses from the 2026 Summer School are included.

ㆍThe existing grade abandonment system rules apply, with no changes to the criteria.

Students from the Class of 2021 onwards

(Entering class of 2021 ~)

ㆍIncluded as targets under the new grade abandonment system starting from the 2025-2 semester.

ㆍLimited strictly to courses with an acquired grade of C+ or lower that have been abolished without any substitute course (Abandoning courses with an 'F' grade is also counted toward the total number of abandonable credits).

ㆍAbolished courses that do have a substitute course will be automatically blocked by the computer system upon application (A notification via a pop-up window will be displayed).

ㆍCourses from the 2026 Summer School are included.

※ If mandatory courses required for graduation (such as Anthropology) are abandoned, graduation will be impossible.

4-1. How to Check Abolished Courses Without Substitute Courses (Applicable ONLY to students from the Class of 2021 onwards)

  • Step 1: Go to [Trinity] - [Academic Information (학사정보)] - [Curriculum/Teacher Certification (교과/교직)] - [Course Description Inquiry (교과목해설조회)], check 'Include Abolished Courses' (폐지된 과목포함), search for the course number, and verify whether it has been abolished.

  • Step 2: Go to [Trinity] - [Academic Information (학사정보)] - [Curriculum/Teacher Certification (교과/교직)] - [Substitute Course History Inquiry (대체과목연혁조회)], search for the corresponding course number, and check if a substitute course exists. (Application is only possible if there is no substitute course at this stage).

  • ※ However, if even the final substitute course has been abolished, it is configured to allow application. (e.g., If a course has a change history in the order of Course A → Course B → Course C, and Course C is currently abolished, grades for Courses A, B, and C can all be abandoned).

  • ※ Furthermore, the computer system is programmed to prevent the abandonment of courses that still have active substitute courses.

5. Application Method

  1. Log into Trinity (Advanced Standard Web System (Uportal)), enter your application, and confirm it under 'Grade Abandonment Inquiry' (취득성적포기조회).

  2. After applying, print out the 'Grade Abandonment Confirmation Form' (성적포기확인원) and keep it as supporting evidence.

6. Important Precautions (Must Read)

  1. Grade abandonment may cause issues with graduation or course completion, so you must carefully consider your remaining completion credits.

    • In particular, essential graduation courses like Anthropology will make graduation impossible if abandoned.

  2. Abandoned courses will be marked as "W" (Withdrawn) on the transcript and will be excluded from the calculated registered/acquired credits and the Grade Point Average (GPA).

  3. Even if your GPA improves due to grade abandonment, academic warning history for the respective semester will NOT be deleted. Moreover, dormitory applications, scholarship selections, etc., will reflect the GPA prior to the grade abandonment. For external qualification exams or civil service exams, a certain number of completed credits per academic year may be required as an application eligibility criterion, so be mindful not to face any disadvantages.

  4. Grades deleted through the application for grade abandonment cannot be restored under any circumstances.

  5. After completing the application, definitely print out the Grade Abandonment Confirmation Form to verify your applied details, and submit it to the Academic Support Team if any issues arise in the future.
