Notice on the Interest Support Program for Tongyeong University Students’ Student Loans (Second Half of 2025)
In accordance with the Tongyeong City Ordinance on Student Loan Interest Support for University Students, Tongyeong City announces the interest support program for student loans incurred in the second half of 2025. This program aims to provide equal opportunities for higher education to university (and graduate) students and unemployed graduates who face financial difficulties and to contribute to nurturing local talent.

1. Program Name
Student Loan Interest Support Program for Tongyeong University Students (Second Half of 2025)
2. Support Details
A. For students who received student loans (tuition or living expenses) through the Korea Student Aid Foundation, the interest generated during the second half of 2025
(Jul. 1, 2025 – Dec. 31, 2025) will be supported.
B. If applications exceed the available budget, support will be prioritized within the budget in the following order:
Recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security Program
Individuals who graduated from high schools located in Tongyeong
※ Applications for the interest support for the first half of 2026 are expected in September 2026.
3. Eligibility
University (or graduate) students and unemployed graduates who meet one of the following conditions:
A. As of the announcement date, applicants who have maintained resident registration in Tongyeong for at least one year, or whose direct ascendants (parents) have maintained resident registration in Tongyeong for at least three years, and who graduated from a high school located in Tongyeong.
B. Students currently attending or expected to graduate from a high school located in Tongyeong, whose resident registration in Tongyeong is maintained for at least 3 months (for first-year students) or at least 1 year (for others).
※ Graduates are eligible only if unemployed within two years from the graduation date as of the announcement date (Mar. 4, 2026). Those currently employed according to employment or health insurance records are excluded.
※ Applicants who are workplace subscribers of the National Health Insurance as of the announcement date are not eligible.
※ Interest support is limited to a maximum of six months of interest during the loan period for students on leave of absence (excluding leave due to military service).
※ Students graduating in Feb. 2026 will be treated as current students for eligibility.
※ Duplicate support from the national government, other local governments, or companies is not allowed.

Notes and Guidance
Health Insurance Qualification History Certificate can be issued via
National Health Insurance Service (https://www.nhis.or.kr) → Civil Service → Personal Civil Service → Qualification History Certificate.If not enrolled in health insurance but receiving medical aid, submit a medical aid beneficiary certificate.
Mask or omit the last digits of the resident registration number before submission.
Students graduating in Feb. 2026 must submit a certificate of enrollment, leave, or graduation (Health insurance qualification history certificate required).
If on leave of absence, submit a certificate showing the leave date.
Personal information consent forms and resident registration transcripts must include personal identification details and the applicant’s signature.
5. Support Period
Expected in June 2026 (subject to change)
Check the Korea Student Aid Foundation website for confirmation.
6. Payment Method
The confirmed interest support amount will be deposited into the loan repayment account of the Korea Student Aid Foundation.
7. Additional Notes
A. Before applying for student loan interest support, applicants should update their personal information on the Korea Student Aid Foundation website. Applicants are responsible for any disadvantages caused by incorrect information, false entries, missing documents, or inability to contact the applicant. Submitted documents will not be returned.
B. If disqualification is identified after selection, the selection may be canceled. If a recipient is found to have been selected through false or improper means, the support amount already provided will be reclaimed.
