Woowa Scholarship for Children of Restaurant Owners
The Woowa Scholarship for Children of Restaurant Owners is a scholarship program funded by a donation of KRW 10 billion to the Community Chest of Korea by Kim Bong-jin, founder of Baedal Minjok, and his spouse Seol Bomi. After joining The Giving Pledge, they established this program to help address educational inequality.
The program is operated with the support of Bong & Seol Initiative, Woowa Brothers, Community Chest of Korea (Love Fruit), and JUMP.
Eligibility
Applicants must satisfy all of the following conditions:
Children of high school or university students from families in the restaurant industry experiencing financial difficulties
(household income at or below 130% of the national median income)Children of parents (father or mother) who are operating a restaurant business as of Mar. 4, 2026, the start date of the scholarship application period
Students currently enrolled in high schools or universities in Korea
Selection Schedule
Application Period: Mar. 4, 2026 (Wed) – Mar. 18, 2026 (Wed)
Final Results Announcement: Apr. 17, 2026 (Fri)
