Guidelines for Grade Forgiveness for the 2nd Semester of 2025

1. Application Period for Grade Forgiveness

  • January 16, 2026 (Fri), 09:00–17:00

(Applications will be accepted for one day only.)
※ No additional application period will be provided. Please strictly adhere to the designated time.

2. Eligibility (Only enrolled students; students on leave or students who have completed coursework are not eligible)

  1. Enrolled students who have completed 7 semesters or more
(119 or more credits; Pharmacy students: 140 or more credits)
(Students who have completed 7 semesters in Trinity academic records)

  2. Early graduation candidates and students in the Bachelor's–Master's integrated program who meet the above conditions

※ The above conditions apply equally to all students regardless of admission year.
※ Students expected to graduate in February 2026 who plan to apply for "completion deferral" must complete grade forgiveness before their academic status changes to “completion-deferred,” as applications will not be accepted afterward.

3. Maximum Credits Allowed for Forgiveness

  • Up to 9 credits (may be submitted in multiple applications; once approved, forgiveness cannot be reversed)

  • Credit limits are calculated cumulatively starting from the 1st semester of 2014, when the system was first introduced.

4. Eligible Courses for Grade Forgiveness

Category

Details

Students admitted up to 2020 (≤ 2020)

• Courses with grades of C+ or below (Forgiveness of courses graded ‘F’ also counts toward the total 9-credit limit)

• 2025 Winter Session courses included

• No change in eligibility criteria compared to the previous system

Students admitted from 2021 onward (≥ 2021)

• Newly included in the grade forgiveness system starting from the 2025 2nd semester

• Eligible only for courses graded C+ or below that have been discontinued with no replacement course (Courses with ‘F’ also count toward the 9-credit limit)

• Courses that have been discontinued but have replacement courses will be automatically marked as ineligible in the system (a pop-up message will appear)

• 2025 Winter Session courses included

※ Courses required for graduation (e.g., Human Studies) cannot be forgiven; doing so will make graduation impossible.

4-1. How to Check Courses Discontinued Without Replacement (For students admitted from 2021 onward only)

Step 1)
Go to Trinity → Academic Info → Curriculum/Teaching → Course Description Inquiry,
check “Include Discontinued Courses”, then search by course number to confirm discontinuation.

Step 2)
Go to Trinity → Academic Info → Curriculum/Teaching → Replacement Course History Inquiry,
search the course number to check if a replacement course exists.
(Only courses without replacement are eligible.)

※ If the final replacement course has also been discontinued, the entire chain becomes eligible.
 Example: If A → B → C were replacements and C is discontinued, then A, B, and C are all eligible.

※ Courses with replacement courses cannot be forgiven in the system (automatically blocked).

5. How to Apply for Grade Forgiveness

(Refer to the attached “Grade Forgiveness Application Guide”)

  1. Log in to Trinity and submit your application; check the status under Grade Forgiveness Inquiry.

  2. After submitting, print the Grade Forgiveness Confirmation Form and keep it for your records.

6. Important Notes (Read Carefully)

  1. Grade forgiveness may affect graduation or program completion–you must carefully consider your completed credits.

    • Especially for required courses such as Human Studies, forgiveness will result in ineligibility for graduation.

  2. Forgiven grades are marked as “W”, and are excluded from earned credits and GPA calculations.

  3. Even if your GPA improves after forgiveness, academic warnings from that semester will not be removed, and dorm applications, scholarships, etc., will reflect pre-forgiveness grades.
External exams or public service exams may require a minimum number of earned credits per year, so use caution.

  4. Once a grade has been forgiven, it cannot be restored.

  5. After completing your application, you must print and verify the confirmation form.
In case of any issues, the form must be submitted to the Academic Support Team.
