The Catholic University of Korea held a Mass of Thanksgiving and an awards ceremony for long-serving faculty and staff to commemorate its 170th anniversary on Friday, May 23rd, at 10:30 AM in the Conference Room of Building K on the Seongsim Campus.

This Mass served as an opportunity to reflect on the university's identity, built on the tradition of faith, and to express gratitude for the dedication of the faculty and staff who have served in their respective roles in education, research, and administration.

In his homily, Father Choi Jun-gyu, the President, stated, "170 years ago, the seed of the Gospel, sown like a grain of wheat, has steadily grown through the storms of the times into today's community of faith, The Catholic University of Korea." He added, "We must not forget this legacy of education, love, and service that has continued for this long period, and we must love more deeply and serve more broadly with the responsibility of ushering in a new era."

He also emphasized, "As the Lord said, 'Love one another as I have loved you,' let our university community also live as beings who bring joy and strength to each other."

The Mass proceeded beautifully and gracefully with photo materials illustrating the history of The Catholic University of Korea, along with students' renditions of 'The Lord's Prayer' and the choir performance of 'Offered on the Cross'.

Following the Mass, the scholarship certificate awarding ceremony and launching ceremony for the 2025 Overseas Culture Exploration Scholars were held. A presentation by the top selected team, 'The Perfect Harmony of Three Colors: Hamburger', was also given.

The event concluded after the presentation of awards to the long-serving faculty and staff.
