• CUK Holds the 12th BWL International Forum for Catholic Humanism

    The Catholic University of Korea (President Fr. Won Jongchul) held the award ceremony of the 12th BWL International Forum for Catholic Humanism on October 6th (Thursday). At the ceremony, the Seton House Vocational Training Center for People with Disabilities (Adult sector) and the CUK College of Medicine student Kim Seungyeon (student sector) won the "Bernard Wonkil Lee Award".

    The "BWL International Forum for Catholic Humanism" first started in 2011 to commemorate Bernard Wonkil Lee's love for humanity and his neighbors throughout his life. The event has been held with various sessions, including the “BWL Catholic Humanism Award Ceremony” and “the 12th CUK Debate Competition Award Ceremony.”

    President Kim Sukhee of Seton House Vocational Training Center for People with Disabilities said, “I am truly honored and happy to receive such a prestigious award. I shall repay this honor by putting a people-centered community above profits and by ensuring that people with disabilities can always work in a workplace free from discrimination and become the rightful members of society.”

    Seungyeon Kim said, “Volunteer activities have served as a great opportunity for me to indirectly experience the lives of different people in society and granted me the ability to think from various perspectives. I shall take this award as a reminder to practice and spread the love of Christ, and I will strive hard to help more people down the road.”


    After that, at the second session of the event (12th CUK Debate Competition Award Ceremony), the motions given for discussion were “Introduction of the carbon tax to respond to climate change” and “Expansion of social and legal responsibilities of corporates in accordance with the 2050 carbon neutrality scenario.” The grand prize went to Team Develeat, and the first prize was given to Team Montague.
