• Minjae Lee Wins the Second Prize in a national music competition

  • In the 15th Gimpo Philharmonic Orchestra National Music Competition held September 5, Minjae Lee, a 21-year-old student majoring in piano, played the “Chopin - Rondo in E-flat major, Op.16” in the competition for university students and won the second prize. The second prize was the highest award because there was no first prize winner.


    15th Gimpo Philharmonic Orchestra National Music Competition, where Lee won the second prize, is a nationwide competition organized and hosted by the Gimpo Philharmonic Orchestra and funded by the city of Gimpo and its City Council. Marking the 15th event this year, more than 100 people participated in the competition in various fields, including the piano, string, pipe, and vocal. Lee played the “Piano Sonata No. 15, Op.28, Pastoral 1st Movement” in his preliminary round and the “Chopin - Rondo in E-flat major, Op.16” in the final round, receiving much praise from the judges and earning the second prize at the university level.
