  • The research team led by Professor Woo Ram Park of the Department of Biomedical-Chemical Engineering starts joint research on new lipid nanoparticles with MOGAM Institute for Biomedical Research

The research team led by Professor Woo Ram Park of the Department of Biomedical-Chemical Engineering (BMCE) was finally selected with Seoul National University Research Team to conduct “2021 Open Innovation Research Project” posted by MOGAM Institute for Biomedical Research. MOGAM Institute is a non-profit research foundation established and funded by GC Pharma in 1984.

This research project is about developing novel lipid nanoparticle (LNP) that can safely and effectively deliver mRNA (messenger ribonucleic acid)-based vaccine and therapeutic agent. This is the technology used by Pfizer, Bio-N Tech, and Moderna to develop COVID-19 vaccine.

MOGAM Institute conducted an open innovation project to collaborate with the outside after conducting basic research on its own. Professor Woo Ram Park's research team selected this time will design and synthesize novel lipid with high mRNA delivery efficiency, and MOGAM Institute will be in charge of LNP production, analysis, and efficacy exploration with the synthesized lipid. MOGAM Institute made the decision to provide full research funding for one year.
