2020 ‘Sun Dong-yol Scholarship’ and ‘Bucheon St. Mary’s Scholarship’ Ceremony was held on May 27.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the ceremony was held in the school’s video conference room, and the 28 beneficiary students and affiliated personnel from other institutions participated through a video conference program.

Fr Bonman Koo, the Director of the Planning Department[f1]  and the host of the ceremony, said in his congratulatory speech that he hopes students will “always remember the support from the Catholic University of Korea and Bucheon St. Mary’s Hospital, and grow into a giving and loving person.” ‘Sun Dong-yol Scholarship’ was created with the KRW 100 million donated by the ex-professional baseball player Sun Dong-yol when he met the late Cardinal Kim Sou-hwan in 1997, the chairman of the board at the time, when he was playing in the Japanese professional baseball league. ‘Bucheon St. Mary’s Scholarship’ is a scholarship project that has been carried out together by the school, Bucheon St. Mary’s Hospital, and the affiliated social welfare institution since 2013. It was created to provide learning opportunities to students and to help them grow into a healthy member of the society within the boundaries of Catholic principles.
