Last October 21st and 22nd, the Regular General Meeting of the Korean Catholic University Presidential Council (Chairman Won Jongchul of the Catholic University of Korea) in the second half of 2022 was held at Daejeon Catholic University. 

The council was founded in 2009 with 12 Catholic universities in South Korea to enable mutual cooperation and promote healthy and balanced development of university education. At the meeting, members had a presentation on the approval of the foundation of the "Innovative Shared University Model with Catholic Universities in Korea"  and the "Research on Effectiveness of Catholic Universities in Korea".

In particular, the topic of the “Innovative Shared University Model with Catholic Universities in Korea (hereafter, CU 12)” has been approved for the first time in the country, allowing the council to pioneer the creation of the future liberal arts education model. Moreover, the members agreed to install an ad hoc office in CUK to ensure the efficient operation of the CU12. The CU12 will be introduced in the spring semester of 2023, and students can freely take online liberal arts courses of participating universities.

On top of that, they decided to conduct research on the CUK, Daegu Catholic University, and Sogang University to research the effectiveness of Catholic universities in Korea. To this end, they will study the literature and relevant materials, carry out surveys and interviews, and conduct field studies and research on those universities.

The next general meeting is slated to take place in April 2023 at the Catholic University of Pusan.
