Exchange student programs can be divided into interchange programs, visiting student (out-of-pocket tuition) programs, and SAF programs. Students are selected at the beginning of the semester before they are sent out. In other words, students who are selected during the first semester will be sent during the second semester, and students who are selected during the second semester, will be sent during the first semester of the following school year.
Interchange Program
Students who are selected for this program will be sent to an overseas partner school that has an exchange student agreement with our school for 1 year or 1 semester. Students will be given an opportunity to learn with other students in another country through this program. While overseas, students must remain enrolled in classes while studying abroad. The units that are earned at the overseas school will be recognized as units for our school. (Up to 19 units per semester; up to 38 units if sent overseas for 1 year.)
For the interchange program, only tuition for our school need be paid, and students will be exempt from tuition from the overseas school, allowing students to study abroad at a more affordable price. However, dormitory fees, daily expenses, and insurance premiums must be paid out-of-pocket.
Visiting Student (Out-of-Pocket Tuition) Program
Students who are selected for this program will be sent to an overseas partner school that has an exchange student agreement with our school for 1 year or 1 semester. Students will be given an opportunity to learn with other students in another country through this program. Students must remain enrolled in classes while studying abroad. The units that are earned at the overseas school will be recognized as units for our school. (Up to 19 units per semester; up to 38 units if sent overseas for 1 year.)
The difference from the interchange program is that tuition must be paid to both our school and the overseas school. The partner schools that offer visiting student programs often have no limit to the number of participating students, so the competition is relatively lower compared to the interchange program.
SAF Program
The SAF program allows students to study abroad in an overseas university on a comparable level without an explicit exchange student agreement with our school, using the overseas SAF network for 1 year or 1 semester while paying tuition to both universities. Students must remain enrolled in classes while studying abroad. The units that are earned at the overseas school will be recognized as units for our school.
