The College Management Team held the 12th Lee Won-gil Humanism Award Ceremony at Francis Hall, Myeongdong Cathedral, on Thursday, October 30. 

Established in 2013 to honor the life of the late Lee Won-gil, who practiced love for others in the spirit of Catholic humanism, the Lee Won-gil Humanism Award is presented annually to individuals or organizations that carry on his legacy.

The ceremony began with an announcement of the BWL event, followed by the opening address, welcoming remarks, a video presentation on the life of the late Lee Won-gil, a donor’s address, the Humanism Award presentation, and the Lee Won-gil Scholarship ceremony.

This year’s recipient was Jeon-Jin-Sang Clinic/Welfare Center (Director: Teresa Yu Song-ja), which celebrates its 50th anniversary. 

For half a century, the organization has served those in medical blind spots through various activities such as free medical care, welfare programs, and hospice and palliative services, embodying the Church’s spirit of respect for life and love within the local community.

Director Teresa Yu remarked, “This is the first time we have received an award from a Church institution. I believe this recognition honors the 50-year journey of Jeon-Jin-Sang Clinic/Welfare Center, walking alongside our neighbors in need.”

Lee Deok-hyung (Marco), Chairman of Glotech and son of the late Lee Won-gil, stated, “Jeon-Jin-Sang represents complete devotion, love, and unceasing joy. I express my deep respect and gratitude for the organization’s 50-year journey of sharing and love within the community.”

In addition, 26 students selected across four categories—Service, Academic Achievement, Design, and Implementation—were awarded the Lee Won-gil Scholarship. Representatives from each category expressed their gratitude through video presentations and speeches.

President Choon Kyu Choi said, “I sincerely congratulate Jeon-Jin-Sang Clinic/Welfare Center on receiving this year’s award. I also hope that the scholarship recipients will carry the spirit of love embodied by Mr. Lee Won-gil in their hearts and put it into practice in their daily lives.”
